Eliminating Outages
Although it’s up to the IT department to deploy mission-critical hardware and software, management has a large role to play. By collaborating on issues such as consolidation, high availability and disaster recovery, companies can rest assured that their larger business goals—including service-level agreements—are being met.
Wat says this type of top-to-bottom approach to IT can give companies a competitive advantage, with all-the-time uptime being something other companies may not offer. “We can’t tolerate any downtime,” he says, “because just one delayed order could become a disaster. Thanks to the Vision solution, we can virtually eliminate outages.”
Additionally, organizations can save a great deal of money, including on hardware purchases, software-licensing costs, maintenance fees and administrative overhead, by undertaking consolidation efforts such as the one Taiun completed. For example, it no longer has to support multiple boxes at distributed sites. Now, if something were to happen to its primary production box, the backup box would take over and the company’s IT employees would only have to fix one box at one location, a seamless and logical approach.
