IBM Information Management System (IMS) is a premier provider of database and transaction processing availability and speed. Now IBM is introducing IMS Version 10 (IMS 10) to assist you with business flexibility, ease of use and growth for on demand SOA environments. IBM has equipped the IMS Database Manager (IMS DB) and the IMS Transaction Manager (IMS TM) with new enhancements, which enable you to shape how you:

Making IMS ideal for driving On Demand Business

IMS 10 continues to strengthen IMS’s leadership role, helping customers in their On Demand Business enablement by offering the growth, availability and systems management that the evolving environments and cost measures require. IMS 10 focuses on key measures such as integration with open access, supporting tools for SOA environments, improving systems management/usability and providing system scalability in increased availability, performance and capacity.

Java, Web services, Internet connectivity and XML—including new technology—continue to be key areas for new application development. IMS Java, XML and the IMS TM/DB Resource Adapters are enhanced with the latest in standards and ease of use and also provide better integration with WebSphere/Rational development tools as they evolve.

Systems management through autonomic computing continues to be a key area. IMS 10 enhanced its single-system image with expanded standard user-friendly commands and interfaces accessible across environments. IMS 10 eases the installation process, reducing/eliminating the system generation requirement and provides enhanced security and serviceability for IMS application access and database usage.

IMS 10 also improves availability, performance and capacity in the Multiple Systems Coupling (MSC), Fast Path and Database Recovery Control (DBRC) areas. IMS has been providing Sysplex support to ensure the highest in availability/performance for systems growth. IMS continues to enhance support for this environment and its new capabilities.

IMS 10 provides additional tools that will evolve to take advantage of the latest technologies, as well as education and usability enhancements.
