If a company misses a payday, there’s likely to be an employee revolt, with the working masses pounding on management doors. And why not? They’ve done their bit to support the company, toiling away in cubicles or sweating it out on the manufacturing floor. They have plans for their paychecks—covering mortgages and car payments, everyday bills or perhaps a long weekend at the beach.
And vendors are likely to tell late-paying customers that they can take their business elsewhere. They have their own costs to cover, including their own employees and downstream vendors. Delayed or missing payments can spell disaster for companies in many ways.
One company that’s never made delayed-payday excuses is Barrett Paving Materials Inc. Rather than rely on hand-written checks or even long-in-the-tooth products that simply print checks, it’s moved to the latest and greatest from inFORM Decisions, including iChecks, Positive Pay400 and ACH (Automated Clearing House) ePayment. “We’ve been using different iterations of the inFORM products for years, and we’ve never missed a deposit,” says Jack Schweberger, IT manager with Barrett.
Which means the company has never missed a payday.
