BCD Enhances Nexus Portal, Presto, WebSmart Family

IBM i modernization vendor Business Computer Design Int’l (BCD) has issued new versions of several products. 

The company has added several new features to Nexus Portal. Version 3.6 of the Web portal solution offers a Google search appliance portlet that lets users use Google searching and indexing on their own content. The product now fully supports Firefox users, and a major code revision has improved page load times by up to 40 percent, according to BCD. 

Presto, BCD’s rapid application-modernization tool, has gained a new modern look and a visual screen editor to help users improve the look of their 5250 Web-enabled screens. Users needn't know HTML nor make alignment changes to render system screens as Web pages, BCD said in a statement. Users can install Presto, now in version 2.0, in less than an hour, the company says. 

BCD also issued new releases for its entire WebSmart family of products. The new versions, WebSmart ILE 8.2, WebSmart PHP 3.2, and Clover Query 2.0, include product-specific features such as gradient charts, new XML functions, Oracle templates and the flexibility to schedule reports. All three products share the same IDE, providing tight integration between new RPG and PHP Web application development with both editions of WebSmart and real-time Web reports and queries with Clover. SmartCharts, a set of data-graphing Flash charts included with all three products, has been enhanced with a sharper appearance, including new gradient colors, and improved animation.
