Aura Equipments Unveils System i Excel Tool

Aura Equipments has launched a cost-effective Excel tool for the System i platform, the company says. Launcher 400 Excel is designed to help users easily create, update and read Excel workbooks with a high level of security and optimal data confidentiality. The product lets System i users take advantage of all Excel functionalities and continue to use DB2/400.

Every day in a wide variety of industries, employees use and share Excel workbooks. Launcher 400 Excel is designed to offer a quick and easy path to bring Excel to the System i platform, helping developers modernize infrastructures and optimize workflow.

Launcher/400 Excel creates real, ready-to-use Excel-format douments with formulas, graphs, page setup and multiple sheets. Users don't have to run System i Queries Tools and copy and paste data, alleviating an overloaded system. System security is enforced and it's not necessary to give users authority on database files. The System i platform selects and sends data when users need it.

Batch jobs can pre-generate worksheets. Rows are dynamically inserted to contain a variable number of records. RPG and COBOL programs can update single cells with program variable values.

Implemented on the System i platform, the product can collaborate with third-party applications. Native programs can read cell contents and update System i data. An interactive application can wait for user action on a Workbook.
