IBM Systems Technical University, or TechU, has become a key technical training conference for IBM Systems clients and partners. Organized by IBM Systems Lab Services, TechU delivers more than a dozen events in multiple countries throughout the year. Each TechU event offers skill building in various areas, from traditional IBM Systems capabilities to cutting-edge technologies. For IBM Power Systems clients, TechU features content in the areas of virtualization managment, high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) management and security management—including cloud capabilities. There are sessions on cloud management spanning on premises, hybrid, public and multicloud solutions. Artificial intelligence (AI) is another focus area where Power Systems plays a key role due to its design advantages. Come and join us for exciting sessions across these topics.

Learn Through Lectures and Labs Led by Technical Leaders

TechU events bring technical experts from a broad set of skill areas to a central location and cover a range of topics related to IBM and IBM Power Systems. Many sessions are focused around infrastructure capabilities for running mission-critical workloads, which is especially important in the era of hybrid multicloud and artificial intelligence (AI).TechU sessions also explore  emerging technologies such as open-source tools, software-defined infrastructure capabilities, cloud native applications built on containers and more. At TechU, you can learn how to leverage all these while running enterprise workloads on traditional infrastructure such as IBM AIX, IBM i or IBM Z.

One thing I am quite excited about is the AIX for Rookies track that we established about two years ago. This series of lectures and labs is designed to help new team members quickly get up to speed with AIX. It continues to be one of our most popular AIX sessions.

TechU lectures and labs are led by IBM and IBM Business Partners, covering a wide spectrum of topics across IBM Power Systems, IBM Storage, IBM Z and LinuxONE and include technical deep dives as well as strategy sessions to help clients think about and get ready for the future.

In addition, several TechU events offer opportunities to complete certification exams on IBM Power Systems and other topics to strengthen your resume and career.

Technology is changing rapidly, and your skills need to keep up, so you don’t get left behind.

Talk to SMEs, Grow Your Network and Influence Solution Evolution

TechU offers more than technical training. Networking is a key benefit of attending, from my point of view. The relaxed, single-venue setting makes it easy to meet clients, Business Partners and IBMers from various industries and job roles. You can get to know new people, meet people face to face who you’ve talked to on the phone multiple times and gather valuable feedback on the technology itself. As an IBM Power Systems Offering Manager, I appreciate how critical the feedback we receive at TechU is as we develop the strategy and future roadmaps for our portfolios. And of course, I enjoy hearing firsthand from clients and Business Partners what they think about recent IBM Power Systems enhancements and how they’re using them.

From my perspective, TechU is a perfect way to learn about IBM Power Systems trends and direction, technical details, new products, improved capabilities, and enhancements to our huge portfolio of offerings. Best of all, you can influence their roadmap!
